Workshop day with Monica Berti & Peter Stokes

In collaboration with CRIHN, CRCEN is organizing a day of workshops on Greek Anthology and the eScriptorium with Monica Berti and Peter Stokes. 

Schedule 

9am-12pm: Greek Anthology workshop with Monica Berti. 

In this workshop, Monica Berti and the Canada Research Chair in Digital Writing team will discuss the Greek Anthology project. 

The workshop will focus on the figure of authority in the digital environment. The Wikidata platform and its use as an authority will be put forward. The team will also present the Literary Artificial Intelligence (LAI) project, which aims to devise automated textual analysis models capable of identifying the literary variations present in the Greek Anthology. Finally, Monica Berti will present various techniques for recognizing named entities in Greek texts.

12pm : Lunch 

1-4pm: eScriptorium workshop with Peter Stokes

In this workshop, Peter Stokes and the Canada Research Chair in Digital Writing team will discuss the HTR projects currently being carried out by the Chair and eScriptorium.

The first part of the workshop will be dedicated to the Chair's two HTR projects:

  1. Transcription of the Palatine Anthology and the creation of a recognition model for Ancient Greek
  2. Transcribing Flaubert's manuscripts and editing them using XSLT.

The second part of the workshop will be devoted to a presentation of the new features of the HTR eScriptorium platform.
